Interest in doctoral studies at the University of Tartu has increased among both international and domestic applicants
During this year’s spring and summer admissions period, the University of Tartu received 1,275 applications for doctoral studies, of which 978 were eligible for evaluation.

Senate approved the objectives and principles for using AI at the University of Tartu
On 19 June, the senate approved the objectives and principles for using artificial intelligence (AI), establishing a comprehensive framework for applying AI in teaching, research and support services at the university. The document defines the role of AI at the university, the objectives pursued through its use, and the principles that university members should observe when using AI.

Construction of Maarjavälja complex to begin this year
At the end of 2026, the first stage of construction of the academic and research building to be erected on the University of Tartu’s Maarjavälja property will begin. This phase will include the installation of utilities, streets, cycling and pedestrian paths, a 300-space multi-storey car park, and a robotics and drone hall.
